I grew up in a conservative part of the Netherlands, and as a queer youth, I had a different lens as I aged and discovered my community. I have drawn a great deal of input and approaches from this. My queerness has made me more comfortable with abstract and novel approaches of other creatives and informs unexpected areas of my work. My thoughtful approach to the models makes them feel seen for who they are and not for what they look like. This helps them not only feel comfortable with me, but I offer them the room to bring their voice to the process of creating. I combine traditional lighting techniques with innovative, original lighting techniques to create a bridge between traditional, more classic lighting and modern fashion photography. My work is driven by a desire to unpack the world around me. Be it in Editorial- or Commercial-shoots, I find new and challenging ways to confront norms not only in myself and my community but also in the larger body of aesthetics.
